Rochester Hills is a wealthy, historically-Republican Oakland County suburb — a bedroom community for the auto-industry engineering class and the professional families of Rochester and Auburn Hills. Home to Oakland University's campus and a dense network of confessional Reformed, evangelical, and Catholic congregations, its civic identity mixes engineering, education, and old-line Midwest Protestantism.
Rochester Hills' political character has drifted more purple in recent cycles but its religious institutions remain among the most theologically-anti-abortion in southeast Michigan. Its OPC/PCA/URCNA churches, the RC parishes of the Rochester deanery, and the LCMS congregations all hold pro-life doctrine as core teaching. Abolition is the logical step from that doctrine into civil law — and the argument has a real audience here.
